Co-organized by Arctic Council Norwegian Chairship of the Arctic Council and Permanent Participant organizations, UArctic EALÁT Institute, World Reindeer Herders, Arctic Indigenous Film Fund (AIFF), with support of Global Environmental Facility (GEF) and Arctic Council Indigenous Peoples’ Secretariat (IPS).
The special plenary session is a discussion and networking evening event that engages Arctic Indigenous youth in a dialogue with the broader Arctic Council family on issues that the Indigenous youth face today. The session is opened by State Secretary Maria Varteressian and Secretary General of the World Reindeer Herders Anders Oskal.
The session includes a panel discussion with Indigenous youth representatives around the Arctic, the Chair of Arctic Senior Arctic Official Morten Høglund, and the Senior Arctic Official of Finland Petteri Vuorimäki. It takes place in the Lávvu NOMAD Indigenous FoodLab, which results from the Arctic Council EALLU project. The dialogue will last approximately an hour and will be followed by networking, during which beverages and Indigenous food will be served to the session participants and guests.
Due to the limited capacity of the NOMAD Food Lab, we will confirm your participation by 9 a.m. on 30 May. All submitted requests for participation are reviewed according to the principle of “first-come, first-served”.
